DP World Shipping Solutions AMEA will launch the China Africa Link, a weekly service connecting the Far East with East and Southern Africa, from late November 2026. The service is designed to strengthen maritime connectivity between China and African markets.

Seven port rotation across three regions#

The rotation begins at Shanghai, then calls Ningbo and Nansha in China, continues to Port Klang Westport in Malaysia, proceeds to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Maputo in Mozambique, calls Singapore, and returns to Shanghai to complete the loop. The service will carry machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive components from China. African exports on the return leg include agricultural products, minerals and other commodities.

Connected Trade Corridors approach#

The service is presented as an application of DP World Marine Services' Connected Trade Corridors approach, which combines maritime solutions with port operations and inland transport to build integrated trade networks. Ganesh Raj, Global COO of Marine Services at DP World, stated that customers need reliable connections, greater choice and flexibility to adapt as global trade changes. He described the service as bringing the Connected Trade Corridors approach to life by creating shipping networks that help keep cargo moving and support South–South trade.

Infrastructure investments in African terminals#

The service complements DP World's investments in African trade infrastructure. The company is undertaking a USD 165 million expansion of the Maputo container terminal, a project intended to increase its handling capacity by more than double the current level. DP World has committed more than USD 500 million to modernise the Port of Dar es Salaam. Both terminals are on the China Africa Link rotation.

Service commencement and market access#

The weekly service is scheduled to commence in late November 2026. DP World states the service is designed to provide customers with additional shipping capacity and market access between the Far East and East and Southern African markets.
